How to submit a complaint
A consumer who wishes to file a complaint against a mortgage banker or licensed mortgage banker residential mortgage loan originator should complete and send a complaint form to the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending. Instructions and forms are available from the Department at the contact information above.
What to include
Provide a clear description of the issue and copies of relevant documents. Useful records can include the loan originator and company names, NMLS identifiers, property address, dates, disclosures, correspondence and an explanation of the requested resolution. Do not send original documents unless the Department specifically requests them.
Mortgage Grant Fund
The Department maintains a recovery fund to make payments of certain actual out-of-pocket damages sustained by borrowers as a result of specific acts by licensed residential mortgage loan originators. A written application for reimbursement must be filed with and investigated by the Department before payment can be considered. Eligibility, limitations and the claims process are governed by Texas law and Department rules.
